As a very pregnant Mum to a super active toddler, I was looking for a happier me, so I found simple ways to raise my vibes. I felt like I was just going through the motions and getting through the day. But with a little input from me, I did raise my own vibrational energy, the result? Easier smiles from both me and my little girl.
No judgement here, it can be tough getting through the day sometimes. But you can do this too, I promise, I’ve kept it super easy.
Now that my baby boy is here, I’m still doing these things. I’m more aware of the energy I’m putting out every day. That’s not to say I don’t have low vibe days. But with a little effort I’ve raised my vibe again and ready to do the whole mummy thing all over again.
Wait. What’s all this about raising a vibration?
We’re talking about becoming self-aware of your emotions and making a choice to give off a more positive energy.
It seems that anyone talking about the high-vibe life don’t have kids of their own so it’s hard to take it from them when they’re saying to ‘just go for a long walk’ (45 minutes to get everyone out the door right?).
The kids are asking for the 107th snack today and its only 10:45. You didn’t get much sleep. You’ve got a to do list that seems to be growing by the second.
Well here’s a few easy things you can do to change your energy and change the direction of your day.
When you start taking action to raise your own vibes your kids will pick up on it and you’ll find it’s infectious!
1. Thank your little one for something
We teach our toddlers from the start to say ‘please’ and ‘ta’ when they want something. But how often do we stop to thank them for the joy they bring to our lives?
Gratitude is such a powerful way to raise your vibe, and as a Mum who better to model this amazing skill and teach our kids to appreciate others.
It doesn’t have to be anything big. Just a little second to let them know that you saw that nice thing they did for their sibling. Or try these:
- Thank you for helping me change the baby’s nappy today
- Thanks for playing that game with me, it was really fun
- Thank you for making me laugh today
2. Recognising 3 things you are grateful for will raise your energy level
Another way to raise your vibes, not just as a Mum but in general, is to practice recognising the things you are grateful to have in your life.
It’s so easy in our busy lives to never take time to sit and appreciate the things we have.
I found this really hard to start off with. It’s not that I was really bitter about my life. I just didn’t know what to look for. Now I do this practice every day before I go to sleep. If I don’t write it down, I still recite things in my head.
After a while, I found that my brain was looking for things throughout the day to be grateful for!
If your kids are old enough to understand, talk to them about gratitude too.
Simple things like ‘we are so lucky to have all this nature on our doorstep‘ or ‘isn’t it wonderful how we live so close our Nannie and Grandad‘.
Such tiny positive words can have a big impact on our little ones.

3. Drink 1-2 glasses of water before you reach for your coffee
Your brain is over 70% water, so after all those hours snoozing (or not!) no wonder your brain is a little fuzzy when you first get up. To make this a habit that sticks, leave yourself a glass next to the kettle to remind yourself when you get up.
Starting the morning with a clearer head can help you be intentional about your day. I’ve found once I’ve started well and feeling bright, the rest of my day is generally less of a mess. And even if something doesn’t go to plan, I can steer it back on track easier if I’m starting from a good place.
This is the magic of intentionally trying to raise your vibes Mum! We need to feel a sense of control about our days. Otherwise it can totally run away from you.

4. Dance and sing with your children for a high vibe feeling
This is such a cute Mum hack when you’re having a bad day, with the added benefit of raising your vibe of course.
Turn that radio up and get your little ones to dance and sing along with you.
I have a positive playlist saved full of upbeat tunes, my 2 year old hasn’t got a clue what the words are but she knows a good beat when she hears one! When she is starting to get bored I turn on our speakers and get her to dance around the living room with me. She burns off some energy and I feel 19 again!
The great part is that little ones don’t judge! I have been known to dance around to a Naughties throwback playlist. 😉
I also have a couple of albums on my phone which I play for her in the car sometimes. Even if I’m not feeling up to hearing the Frozen 2 soundtrack for the umpteenth time, a couple of songs in I’m grinning ear-to-ear because it’s just the cutest thing when she belts out ‘Into The Unknown’ as the top of her little lungs. ♥
5. Wake a little earlier to write your intentions for the day
I hear you! You’re tired. I couldn’t manage this while I was heavily pregnant, or during any kind of sleep regression. I decided to do this just before going to bed when things got tough, so you have to decide what’s going to work for you.
I’m not talking about a to do list, you can do that after if it makes you feel better.
I’m talking about how you want your day to go.
If you had 100% say on how your day panned out. You’re going to respond calmly to tantrums, you’re going to only use screen time while you clean the kitchen, you’d all go for a walk to the park at 2pm. It’s your call.
Try to keep the intentions simple and things that are in your control.
I know Mum life is busy, but the reason this can raise your vibes is because you aren’t going give space to all the negative things that could happen during the day. You’re going to write down all the things you’d want to happen during the day.
You’re starting the day by telling yourself and the universe that it really could be a great day.
I’d recommend you write these down with a pen and paper. There’s something that feels more intentional when you don’t use a screen for this.
Any kind of journal or notebook will do. I like to have different journals for different things. If you wanted to try this with a journal just for this practice, check out the New Mama Journal. I made it just for you ♥
As mentioned above, you could write your daily intentions as the last thing you do before going to bed. Leave your notepad where you will notice it first thing when you get up and remind yourself of all the good intentions you have for your day!
Ultimately, I believe your mindset is your choice and so is raising your vibes.
Here’s a little tough love for you today if you’re feeling beat down by motherhood. It’s ok, acknowledge your current state, accept the emotions that are present. Now take action. Pick just one of the five steps above and start raising your vibe now, you can do it Mummy ❤️
