Potty
The Pote Plus potty is absolutely excellent. Comfy to sit on for little bums and it’s really easy to keep clean. We loved that the potty looks just like a little toilet and the ‘flush’ button definitely was a win with our daughter.
Oh Crap! Potty Training Book
Some of you will look at me with a raised eyebrow but I think Jamie Glowacki is great! Her book Oh Crap! Potty Training was just what suited our family, no nonsense and full of tips and troubleshooting. Some find Jamie’s way of writing a bit blunt and she goes on a little about people potty training ‘too late’. Looking past this, I enjoyed her sense of humour and her method worked very well for us.
Potty Training Superstar
My toddler loooved this book when we started to potty train her. There’s a boy version and a girl version. And it’s really cute how they talk about using the potty, choosing pants, having accidents and finally being a ‘big girl’.
Step Stool
We got the step stool originally for Jessica to clean her teeth at the sink. It’s just right for toddlers as it has 2 steps up so they can reach much higher than most stools allow. It’s also really lightweight so she carries it around herself to reach the worktops in the kitchen as she needs to.
Training Pants
For slightly longer journeys to begin with, a happy medium between pants and pull ups are these washable training pants by Bambino Mio. They have lots of adorable patterns and as they’re just padded pants, your little one will notice when they are wet which they wont with pull ups. At some point toddlers get to the stage that they might wet a little bit and then realise they need to get to the potty rather than a full accident. The great thing is that with padded training pants little accidents are contained.
My Carry Potty
Speaking of car journeys, My Carry Potty is a must have in our opinion! They have plenty of Jessica chose the clownfish one, so she calls it her ‘’Nemo potty”. Part of being a toddler it going out and exploring the world, and that doesn’t have to stop while you potty train them! (Well.. maybe for the first week or so while they’re really getting to grips with it.)
Waterproof Mattress Protector
If you don’t have one of these already, now it’s the time! Whether you choose to night train at the same time as day training or not, eventually you’ll have to cross that bridge… and there will be accidents. No matter how good your little one is at being dry at night, things like overtiredness, illness and life changes throw their little bodies out of sync and cause accidents. Our waterproof mattress protector means we can just quickly change all the sheets without having to worry about cleaning the mattress. It has a padded top to it so it’s very comfortable.
Keep it simple, enjoy the process, give yourself grace 💛
Good luck with potty training your toddler, it’s such an exciting time! You’re gonna be so proud of your little one. There will be tears and resistance, laughs and memories to last forever.
